Calgary: A New Chapter program, was an eye opener for different topics that are of great importance to any newcomer: healthcare, personal finance, childcare, job search, PR and Citizenship, fair entry and a very good chance to network.
I would suggest every newcomer of Calgary attend this program because it will give you a clear idea of where our focus should be. Being from an entirely different country, with different cultures and value set, it will be difficult for us to build up our career here without having a connection and knowing about the basics about the culture of the country.

The Calgary New Chapter program is a great initiative by CCIS to help new immigrants settle in Canada in almost every way of life. This program must be attended by every newcomer as it would help them prepare for every situation such as housing laws, medical facilities and fraudulent calls/emails, basics about job search, importance of networking and understanding police services in Calgary.

I had the opportunity of attending the "Calgary: A New Chapter" program at CCIS. This program gave me useful information and a greater understanding of how the various sectors-Alberta Health Services, the Calgary job market, the Police Service, Landlord's and Renters Association and much more- works here in Calgary. Being a newcomer, it would have been a lot more complicated and confusing to navigate the new environment rubric on my own.
Now, I have a better understanding of how the various sectors work and the best part is that I can always reach out to the facilitator at CCIS and 'Calgary: A New Chapter' for any future direction or support I need in this regard.
