“Calgary: A New Chapter" 3-day workshop organized by CCIS was an excellent platform to share personal experiences and raise individual concerns. The environment was both supportive and attentive, ensuring that each concern was warmly addressed. The workshop provided valuable insights into various aspects of life in Calgary, including Job Search Strategies, Banking in Canada, Rights and Obligations of Landlord and Tenant, Driver’s License in Alberta, the Canadian Justice System, Health Care & Stress Management, and Resources for Accessing Services in Calgary.
The opportunity to build connections and hear the stories of 50-odd diverse professionals who are all on a different journey, but have all experienced the same process, was very inspirational and comforting.
The topics were relevant; the guest speakers were professional, knowledgeable and very helpful. The direct, specific and experience-based advice from our host, Iuliana, was so helpful. The group was very diverse; juggling multiple things at the same time, but she held it all together beautifully.
As a newcomer, the entire experience of leaving your home country is daunting. Having a program like this to help ground you, make some introductions, give you information and access to further resources is invaluable.

I have learned so much valuable information from the Calgary: A New Chapter course with Iuliana. Iuliana is an amazing course facilitator and understands the daily struggles through which new immigrants go.
The course is created with one goal in mind, to assist newcomers to understand their new city and the work, social and cultural environment.
The fact that the guest speakers are all immigrants to Canada and Calgary with success stories which started a lot like mine, make the course so relevant but also inspirational.
The course topics are very well selected and presented, every new immigrant to Calgary can benefit from this course.
