I am absolutely delighted with the training program I've experienced. It's been an amazing journey of learning about the city of Calgary in Calgary: A New Chapter three-day program. All guest speakers' and facilitators' expertise and dedication were evident in every session, making me comfortable and providing invaluable information.
What stood out to me was the interactive nature of training and major topics such as - healthcare services, stress management, police services, job search strategy, banking, networking, and scams, which helped me to start my new journey in Calgary successfully.
My facilitator always emphasizes networking which allows me to connect with new professionals to make new connections which eventually helps in new opportunities for me.
I can wholeheartedly recommend this training program to every newcomer.

“Calgary: A New Chapter" truly signifies a fresh beginning in the lives of individuals who embark on a long-term stay in Canada. This experience is incomparable to any other, as the challenges and barriers faced along the way can seem never-ending. Initially, the journey of simply gaining the opportunity to come to Canada can be hard. The exhausting flight and subsequent jet lag mark just the start of the adventure. Finding a place to live becomes a daunting task, with seemingly no one willing to rent an apartment. The groceries can cost like a summer vacation. Job applications go unanswered, adding to the overwhelming feeling.
However, in the midst of this overwhelming situation, seeking advice becomes crucial. This is where CCIS comes into play, reminding newcomers that they are not alone. It is reassuring to discover that even those who have lived in Canada for decades faced similar challenges upon their arrival.
I am endlessly grateful for the opportunity to meet and interact with such remarkable individuals during this time. The chance to listen, talk, and learn from them has been invaluable. In particular, I want to express my deep gratitude to Juliana for her inspiring words and unwavering encouragement.
The program organizers also deserve great appreciation for inviting such wonderful speakers who provided insight and wisdom. Their presence made me believe that this difficult period shall pass. The three day sessions in Calgary: A New Chapter are definitely crucial to have. In my case I have learnt the hard way by joining the sessions, intended for newcomers, a bit late. Although I came here under family sponsorship, I felt I did not get enough information, as detailed as in Calgary: A New Chapter.
This program helps newcomers to be better prepared for their immigration situation, introduces them to different aspects of life and helps them understand what to expect and anticipate living in the new country, Canada. It boosts your confidence and makes you ready to move forward. It fits the quote “Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle."

In the Calgary: A New Chapter program, I received a lot of materials about Calgary services, useful numbers, and links. Most important for me was information about the Fair Entry program, Health, and banking system. The speakers were excellent and all participants got answers to their questions. These sessions really will make my accommodation easier and give me the opportunity to make my first steps correctly. I recommend that all newcomers get this course.
I came to Canada just about a month ago and I had the privilege of meeting the CCIS team with whom I felt right at home. I have just finished the "Calgary: A New Chapter" 3-day Online Orientation and I must say it was exactly what I needed for this new chapter of my life. The workshop covered most of the questions any newcomer will have about Canada and Calgary.
I was even more impressed by the patience and understanding of the facilitators and our own Iuliana. I liked the fact that many of them were immigrants themselves and they could relate to almost all of the things we were going through. It made it really easy to understand us and answer our questions. Thank You CCIS. Calgary a New Chapter is a MUST for every newcomer to Canada. It provided me with first-hand information from experienced professionals in the fields of health, banking, security, labor market, city hall and so much more.
When moving to a new country, there are a lot of challenges and uncertainty. These sessions gave me insights on where and how to start this journey, and combined with a very supportive and warm-hearted host, Iuliana, I got the confidence boost I needed to pursue my dreams in my new home, Calgary.
I found the Calgary: A New Chapter seminar to be very helpful and informative. As a newcomer to Calgary, I learnt a lot about the different services and resources available to me, as well as the many different career paths and jobs that were highlighted. The presentations by the various organizations were very interesting. I would highly recommend this seminar to newcomers.

This is one program I recommend every new immigrant to prioritize and ensure they attend. The facilitator Iuliana has such a warm and amazing personality and she commits herself to make sure all our questions were answered.
Resource persons from various industries came to present to us and each presentation came with resources that gave us direction on where to get the help we needed.
It’s also worthy of note that you get access to all the resources used in the presentations. It’s a program that opens your eyes to everything you should know about Calgary from health, to recreation spots, to the culture just name it. Every new immigrant should attend Calgary: A New Chapter.
