As a newcomer with no family or friends in Canada, Calgary: A New Chapter eased my anxiety by providing authentic information necessary to make life-changing decisions. And more importantly, it was an avenue to network and build a support system.
Navigating this new phase might be a long process but the program is certainly a great starting point!

When you immigrate from a different country, everything becomes overwhelming. The first two months in Calgary were the most confusing and overwhelming of my life. It was not easy to get the correct information.
When I asked people from my community, they told me what it was like 7 or 10 years ago. Coming from a different culture, food, and lifestyle, it was challenging to find my starting point in Calgary. I felt like I was lost in a different universe.
Calgary: A New Chapter workshop gave me a starting point, and all the CCIS staff made me feel like they have my back. The workshop helped me to focus on my strengths.
Attending the Calgary: A New Chapter workshop was a chance to access hands on information on navigating this new phase of life. The sessions were very informative and I especially liked the ones from the bank and the police force.

I loved the level of organization and professionalism displayed by each presenter as well as the depth of information.
