This is one program I recommend every new immigrant to prioritize and ensure they attend. The facilitator Iuliana has such a warm and amazing personality and she commits herself to make sure all our questions were answered.
Resource persons from various industries came to present to us and each presentation came with resources that gave us direction on where to get the help we needed.
It’s also worthy of note that you get access to all the resources used in the presentations. It’s a program that opens your eyes to everything you should know about Calgary from health, to recreation spots, to the culture just name it. Every new immigrant should attend Calgary: A New Chapter.
It took me till starting the workshop before I could absolutely appreciate the meaning of the workshop name: Calgary A New Chapter. True to its name, the workshop provided me with hope for settling into a new chapter of my life. As a newcomer, the mixed feelings, uncertainty and anxiety that accompany relocating make this workshop a perfect therapy of hope.

Attending the 3-day workshop Calgary: A New Chapter has been by far the best decision I have made as a newcomer here in Calgary. The variety of information and resources that the program provides is priceless.
The orientation sessions were well coordinated and very informative, we were provided with tons of resources on different topics that are important to newcomers. I liked how knowledgeable the presenters were in their areas of discussion and how willing they were to answer any questions the attendees had. Iuliana the facilitator of the program always had a great positive energy, she was kind, welcoming and reassuring.

When I first landed in Calgary-Canada I didn’t know where to start and whom to rely on to request valid information since I originated from a different culture and society but then I visited the government official website and found out the list of organizations who support newcomers in the settlement process. From the list I choose CCIS as many newcomers are satisfied with the services they acquire. As a result, I decided to schedule an appointment and from that day I cultivated lots of valuable material.
Calgary: “A New Chapter" program is one of the best webinars I participated in –very well presented and structured. The best thing about the session was the level of detail, intensive and targeted workshop with great resources. Our presenters covered a lot of topics, so we all learnt a lot about the subject which helps to understand the Canada schemes and regulation in detail. It was also the best opportunity for meeting newcomers to network with. Three days simply flew by!
